In true proud parent fashion, Berg Hospitality is ringing in the first birthday of its M-K-T Heights restaurant, Buttermilk Baby, with an epic extravaganza complete with cake, ice cream, balloons, and more.
On Saturday, September 13, the whimsical diner known for its burgers, biscuit sandwiches, and Carvel ice cream sweet treats, is hosting a family-friendly shindig from 3 to 5 p.m., during which all are welcome to attend. Party-goers will enjoy face painting, balloon animals, birthday-themed coloring and activities, and get the chance to win Buttermilk Baby for a year.
It’s hardly a birthday party without cake. Buttermilk Baby’s party guests will be treated to complimentary samples of Carvel ice cream cake, made even more special with an appearance by the brand’s beloved mascot, Fudgie the Whale.

In just one year, Buttermilk Baby has become a favorite among guests of all ages. The restaurant’s dreamy wonderland-inspired design, which includes an open-air patio fixed with pink cloud-shaped swings suspended from a rainbow arch, feels like an escape from reality, and is a big part of its success among families in the area.
Reminiscent of an old-fashioned American drug store soda fountain, the concept tugs on the heartstrings of adults who frequented similar places when they were younger, while wide-eyed children can’t get enough of the pastel-hued dining room anchored by a giant ice cream sundae statue topped with a rotating cherry and the kid-friendly ice cream bar.

Its simple, kid-approved menu of smashburgers, chicken tender baskets, patty melts, and fries, plus loaded breakfast biscuits, is an added bonus. And as a Berg Hospitality concept, dishes are made with 100% Texas wagyu beef.
While a highlight of the restaurant is undoubtedly its bounty of Carvel offerings, including soft-serve, milkshakes, floats, ice cream sandwiches, and frozen frappes, Buttermilk Baby is a hit among parents who can opt for “Big Kid” drinks like a spiked Arnold Palmer or the boozy espresso shaketini.

For those who are unable to make the party, Buttermilk Baby is keeping the celebration going all month with its birthday cake shake, a limited-time offering available through the end of September. Available in 12- and 16-ounce sizes, the festive shake is made with birthday cake batter-flavored ice cream, whipped cream, and rainbow sprinkles, and presented with a party blower.
