If a jaunt around the Greek isles was not on the itinerary this summer, consider a tempered escape right here in the city as Zanti Cucina Italiana in River Oaks hosts a one-day-only Mamma Mia!-themed brunch fusing Mediterranean magic with disco glam.

On Saturday, August 23, as a sunset to the summer season, the sceney Italian restaurant will come alive to a ‘70s-inspired DJ soundtrack, including ABBA favorites, as guests are encouraged to lay all their love on the table, and join in the fun at brunch. A dress code of fine Greek glam showcasing beachy pastels, loud florals, glittery sequins, seashell jewelry, and flower crowns, is encouraged.

Located in a corner of the River Oaks Shopping Center, with equally buzzy neighbors like Brasserie 19 and Hudson House, Zanti’s in-the-loop locale has served as one of the area’s popular see-and-be-seen places since it opened in 2022, following a longstanding location in the Woodlands. A la the beloved, time-honored film, Zanti will transform its lavish space into a sun-soaked Mediterranean paradise decorated with sparkling disco balls from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Executive chef Hilario Zamora will prepare a fitting brunch menu to match, including summer specials like a carpaccio selection of octopus, beef, scallop, wild mushroom, and heirloom tomato, plus themed dessert refreshers like the Amalfi Freeze with lemon sorbet and the Sol de Valencia with orange sorbet.

Along with traditional brunch mimosas and a full bar, guests and their honey honeys can toast the occasion with a tequila-fueled Dancing Queen cocktail, crafted with passion fruit purée, Aperol, lime juice, and orange bitters, served in a glittering disco ball.

Take a chance on Zanti, and score reservations for the upcoming retro-glam, Greek-chic brunch via OpenTable.
